Focus on impact and meaning:
- This piece was inspired by the object itself instead of a person or style, just the look of the bike and all the gears inspired me.
- My goal for this assignment was to be able to accurately show the bike chain in a way that didn't look perfect, but still resembled what it was.
- The imperfections are supposed to be their, I didn't intend for this to look like a picture, but more as an artistic take on the bike.
Focus on your creative process: - using only black and white charcoal was a choice that i made. This sometimes made thing difficult because it was so messy and hard to remove once it was on.
- I was told that using white charcoal would help pull out the shadows, and that advice changed my whole picture.
- A challenged I faced was not being able to accurately draw the chain, but then i released i was over thinking it and just drew what I saw.
Focus on your strengths and your learning: - I think that for this piece I was able to accomplish what I had in mind for the assignment, and was confident in my work.
- I learned to accept that imperfections don't ruin a piece, but add character to the piece
